Going on a Bear Hunt

This is a fun activity and can be lengthened as the child gets older.  Thanks to my friend, Rhonda, for letting me video her version.  Here are the words we used:

Going on a Bear Hunt
Gonna catch a big one
I’m not afraid
What’s that?

Oh no! Tall grass
Can’t go over it
Can’t go under it
Gotta go through it
Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish, swish, swish, swish

Repeat all of the above, and replace the part in italics with

A wide river
Splish splash, splish splash, splish splash, splish splash

Yucky mud
Squish, squish, squish, squish, squish, squish, squish, squish

A dark forest
Climbing sounds, hand motions go up and down trees

A big snowstorm
Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo

A dark cave
Tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe

What’s that?
Fuzzy fur
Big eyes
Wet nose
Sharp teeth
It’s a bear!

Back through the cave

(Retrace steps at double time)
Run in the house and lock the door.
We weren't afraid!!
